Active Transformer Capacity And Characteristic Tester
Product Introduction
A high-precision handheld instrument for on-site verification of distribution-transformer capacity, no-load & load (short-circuit) loss, impedance voltage and energy-efficiency rating - for both single-phase and three-phase transformers. Built-in power source means no external voltage regulator or boosting transformer is required.
Why "Active"? - Built-in Source, Real On-site Portability
Unlike passive testers that must be fed by an external regulating transformer and heavy boosting equipment, the MOEORW-WBT67 is an active tester with an integrated three-phase AC source and rechargeable battery. Field crews can perform capacity and loss tests directly at the transformer - in a substation, on a pole-mounted unit, or inside an enterprise distribution room - without hauling external power gear.
Designed to stop electricity fraud. Under China's two-part tariff, users pay a basic charge by declared transformer capacity. Some illegally swap nameplates or up-rate units to pay less. The MOEORW-WBT67 is purpose-built for electricity inspection & nameplate-capacity verification - it measures the actual capacity and loss, exposing tampered or over-rated transformers. Ideal for power utilities, transformer manufacturers and anti-theft inspection teams.

Key Features
- Accurately measures the capacity of various distribution transformers - convenient and precise.
- Measures capacity, energy-efficiency rating, type, no-load current, no-load loss, short-circuit (load) voltage and short-circuit (load) loss in one unit.
- Internal auto range-switching across a wide voltage/current range with simple wiring.
- During no-load and load tests on three-phase transformers, the instrument auto-verifies wiring correctness and displays the three-phase voltage/current vector diagram (dual-/three-wattmeter method, internally pre-wired).
- Single unit performs full-current load tests for distribution transformers below 1000 kVA; at one-third rated current it covers units below 3150 kVA and calculates rated-current load loss automatically.
- All results auto-corrected: waveform, temperature, non-rated voltage and non-rated current corrections - for higher accuracy. Two temperature-correction algorithms (coefficient method & national-standard formula).
- 320×240 high-brightness LCD with full menu and operation prompts (English/Chinese selectable), touch keys, wide-temperature LCD with brightness adjustment.
- Up to 40 preset specimen parameter sets, add/delete as needed.
- Built-in real-time clock auto-records test date & time.
- Panel thermal printer for instant on-site printout (includes judged energy-efficiency grade).
- Power-off data storage & browse for up to 500 test records; connects to a PC for data export via communication port + USB.
- External voltage/current transformers can extend the measuring range to cover any parameter of the test object.
Application Scenarios
Electricity inspection & capacity verification
Detect nameplate tampering and illegal up-rating; verify the actual declared capacity for correct basic-charge billing.
Factory acceptance tests
Verify no-load/load loss, impedance voltage and efficiency rating before a transformer ships or is commissioned.
Routine maintenance & handover
Periodic condition checks for power utilities, transformer manufacturers and enterprise distribution rooms.
On-site portable testing
Substations, pole-mounted units and indoor rooms - no external regulator needed thanks to the built-in source.
Standards & Transformer Compatibility
Capacity & type testing targets national-standard distribution transformers with a 400 V AC low-voltage side (three-phase). The instrument supports common type series:
Oil-immersed types
S(H)7 / 9 / 11 / 13 / 14 / 15 series.
01
Dry-type (SCB) types
SCB9 / 10 / 11 / 12 at 100 °C, 120 °C and 145 °C insulation classes.
02
Single-phase & three-phase
Both winding configurations supported; connection-group type is selectable.
03
Reference type output
Reports judged capacity, measured capacity, national-standard loss, corrected loss, impedance voltage and reference type.
04
Built-in Battery & Charging
The instrument ships with a pre-activated rechargeable battery. For best performance:
- Check battery level before use; if a severe under-voltage warning appears, stop and recharge promptly - battery damage from use under low charge is not covered by free warranty.
- Charge indicator: red = charging, green = full.
- Avoid under-charging or deep discharge; keep stored battery voltage above 12 V.
- If stored long-term, keep it fully charged in a dry, ventilated place at 5–25 °C and recharge every 2 months.
Safety Notes
I/O terminals and test posts may be live. Sparks can occur when plugging/unplugging test leads or the power socket - beware of electric shock.
- Ground the chassis ground post as well as the power-cord ground; verify proper grounding before connecting terminals.
- Use only the specified type and rating of fuse.
- Do not operate with the cover/panel removed, in wet environments, or in explosive atmospheres.
- Connect/disconnect test leads only when the terminals are de-energized.
- Only qualified technicians may perform maintenance; stop use if the unit is suspected damaged.
Q: 1. How does the MOEORW-WBT67 ensure operator safety?
A: Proper grounding is mandatory - both via the power-cord ground and the chassis ground post. Only the specified fuses are used, the cover must stay fitted, test leads are connected/disconnected only when de-energized, and operation in wet or explosive environments is prohibited. The unit also warns on severe battery under-voltage.
Q: 2. In what ways is the instrument convenient to operate?
A: Internal auto range-switching and simple wiring; automatic wiring verification with a live vector diagram; 40 storable specimen parameter sets; touch keys with bright LCD; real-time clock; panel thermal printer; 500-group power-off storage; PC data export; and external VT/CT range extension.
Q: 3. How should the battery be maintained during long storage?
A: Check charge before use and recharge immediately on a low-voltage warning. Keep stored battery voltage above 12 V; if unused for long periods, store fully charged at 5–25 °C in a dry, ventilated place and top up every 2 months. The battery is pre-activated at the factory.
