Product Introduction
The MOEORW-WHVA45 VLF Hipot Tester 0~45kV can test medium-voltage cables according to relevant standards, including the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) harmonized documents HD 620 S1:1996 and HD 621 S1:1996.
A 0.1Hz sinusoidal voltage with an effective value up to 24kV is available. This type of cable testing can detect faults in the insulation layer, especially water treeing damage, reliably preventing flashover not only in polyethylene (PE)/cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) cables but also in paper-insulated cables. The testing procedure does not damage fault-free insulation. The cable can also be tested for insulation breakdown strength using DC voltage (positive and negative voltages) and trapezoidal AC voltage (rectangular wave voltage). The slewing rate of the rectangular wave voltage depends on the cable capacitance and is automatically adaptive. Additional leakage current measurements in DC mode allow for assessment of the relative quality of the cable insulation. The sinusoidal shape of the system test voltage can also directly test the cable's dielectric loss factor, thus determining the degree of loss factor degradation.

Medium voltage cable insulation testing
For medium-voltage cables such as polyethylene (PE)/cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) and paper insulation, insulation layer faults (such as water tree damage) are detected. The degree of insulation degradation is determined by ultra-low frequency withstand voltage and dielectric loss factor tests, and the tests do not damage fault-free insulation layers.
